Basic White Cake Mix In A Jar Recipe
- 2 c. Flour
- 2 tsp Baking Pwdr
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 c. Sugar
- In a large bowl, combine flour, salt & baking pwdr.
- Layer mix and other ingredients in order given in a 1 qt canning jar.
- It is helpful to tap jar lightly on a padded surface (towel on counter) as you layer ingredients to make all ingredients fit neatly.
- Use scissors to cut a 9 inch-diameter circle from fabric of your choice.
- Center fabric circle over lid and secure with a rubber band.
- Tie on a raffia or possibly ribbon bow to cover the rubber band.
- Attach a card with the following directions:Grandma's White Cake
- Remove top layer of sugar from jar and place into a large mixing bowl.
- Add in 1 c. Vegetable Oil (Grandma used lard :0) and 2 Large eggs, then cream together.
- Add in 1 c. Lowfat milk and 1 teaspoon Vanilla.
- Mix well, then add in remaining contents of jar and blend till smooth.
- Pour into a greased & floured 9 x 13 inch cake pan, and bake at 350 degrees F for 35 - 40 min, or possibly till a knife inserted into center of cake comes out clean.
- Cold, and frost as desired.
