Sweet and Spicy Simmered Grilled Tofu and Ground Pork
- 1 block Grilled tofu
- 100 grams Ground pork
- 1/2 of a large onion Onion
- 1 heaping teaspoon Ginger (grated)
- 300 ml * Water
- 2 tbsp * Soy sauce
- 1 tbsp * Mirin
- 1 tbsp * Sake
- 2 tsp * Sugar (light brown)
- 2 tsp * Instant bonito dashi stock (granules)
- 2 tsp of katakuriko and 1 tablespoon of water Katakuriko dissolved in water
- Cut the tofu into 8 pieces.
- Slice the onion thinly and lengthwise along the grain.
- Stir fry the ground pork in a non-stick frying pan without any oil.
- When the color of the meat has changed add the onion and stir fry until the onion is softened.
- Add the tofu and the ingredients marked with * - 300 ml of water, the soy sauce, mirin, sake, light brown sugar and dashi stock granules - to the pan in Step 3.
- Cover with a piece of aluminum foil and simmer for 10 minutes over medium heat.
- Add the grated ginger, and finally add the katakuriko dissolved in water to thicken the sauce.
- Sprinkle some chopped green onions on top to taste.
- It's done!
- It's good with some ichimi togarashi red chili pepper powder sprinkled on too.
