Beef Stroganov Recipe
- 1 pound beef boneless sirloin or possibly top loin steak, 1/2 inch thick
- 2 tbsp. butter
- 8 ounce. mushrooms, sliced
- 2 med. onions, sliced
- 1 clove garlic, finely minced
- 2 tbsp. butter
- 1/2 c. water
- 1 teaspoon instant beef bouillon
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 c. lowfat sour cream
- 1/2 teaspoon prepared mustard
- Warm cooked noodles or possibly rice
- Cut beef across grain into strips, 1 1/2 x 1/2 inches.
- It is easier to cut if the meat is a little bit frzn.
- Heat 2 Tbsp.
- butter in skillet till melted.
- Add in mushrooms, onions, and garlic.
- Cover and simmer till onions are tender, 5 - 10 min.
- Remove vegetables from pan.
- Cook the beef in 2 Tbsp.
- butter over medium heat till brown, about 10 min.
- Add in water, bouillon, salt and pepper.
- Heat to boiling; reduce heat.
- Cover and simmer till beef is done, 10 to 15 min.
- Add in vegetable mix, heat to boiling, reduce heat.
- Stir in lowfat sour cream and mustard.
- Serve over noodles or possibly rice.
