Spice Kickin' Cast Iron Cornbread!
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 1 cup flour
- 14 cup sugar
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 12 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon red pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon white pepper
- 18 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 cup milk
- 1 egg, Beaten
- 14 cup vegetable oil
- 12 cup chopped crisped bacon
- 1 green onion, chopped
- 12 jalapeno, chopped very fine
- 6 -8 tablespoons bacon grease, for pan (It Really Is A Key Ingredient)
- Heat your oven to 425, grease your cast iron pan well with bacon grease, and put the pan into the oven to get hot.
- In a large mixing bowl, mix all your dry ingredients.
- Add cooked bacon, green onion, jalapeno, mix well.
- Then add the milk, egg, and vegetable oil.
- Carefully pour the mixture into the pan, and cook for 20 minutes.
