Preparing/ Steaming Asparagus

  1. Preparing and steaming asparagus without a steamer is easy to do with aluminum foil and a shallow pan with a top.
  2. Take one asparagus and gently bend the bottom end.
  3. The asparagus will break away from the tough end.
  4. Discard tough ends.
  5. Line up all the asparagus and cut off the same amount from the bottom.
  6. Gently clean with cold water.
  7. Use shallow pan and sheet of aluminum foil.
  8. Prepare a "pillow" with aluminum foil.
  9. Place asparagus in pan with the thicker pieces to back.
  10. Pour enough water that the lower parts are just submerged.
  11. Steam on medium to high heat until the asparagus change to a deep green, but are still firm.
  12. Remove from pan and place in serving dish.
  13. Drizzle oil, add lemon juice salt and pepper to taste.
