crispy fried green tomatoes
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 1 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1 cup canola oil
- 2 slice green tomatoes, large
- heat canola oil, medium heat
- add salt & pepper to sliced tomatoes
- mix cornmeal & flour in one bowl
- pour milk into seperate bowl
- dip tomatoes one by one into milk, then into flour mixture, back to milk, then to flour mixture again so that tomatoes are evenly coated on both sides.
- the batter should stick well to the tomatoes
- shaking off excess coating slowly place tomatoes into heated oil on medium to high heat
- pan fry about 2 minutes on each side till golden brown, flipping over once
- shake off excess oil when removing and place on paper towel to absorb excess oil, serve hot
