crispy fried green tomatoes

  1. heat canola oil, medium heat
  2. add salt & pepper to sliced tomatoes
  3. mix cornmeal & flour in one bowl
  4. pour milk into seperate bowl
  5. dip tomatoes one by one into milk, then into flour mixture, back to milk, then to flour mixture again so that tomatoes are evenly coated on both sides.
  6. the batter should stick well to the tomatoes
  7. shaking off excess coating slowly place tomatoes into heated oil on medium to high heat
  8. pan fry about 2 minutes on each side till golden brown, flipping over once
  9. shake off excess oil when removing and place on paper towel to absorb excess oil, serve hot
