Chinese Ham Balls With Fruited Ginger Sauce
- 1 lb ground smoked ham
- 1 lb ground pork sausage
- 1 tablespoon instant minced onion
- 2 eggs
- 12 cup dry breadcrumbs
- 12 cup milk
- 12 teaspoon mustard powder
- 12 cup water
- 1 (15 ounce) can fruit cocktail
- 12 cup orange juice
- 1 teaspoon grated orange rind
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 12 teaspoon ginger
- 14 cup vinegar
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 14 cup sherry wine
- Combine the first 7 ingredients in a bowl and mix well.
- Shape into 2 inch balls.
- Brown on all sides in a skillet over low heat; drain off excess fat and add water; cover and cook for about 20 minutes.
- Drain the fruit cocktail, reserving 1 cup of syrup.
- Combine the fruit cocktail, reserved syrup and remaining ingredients in a saucepan and bring to boiling point over low heat, stirring frequently.
- Serve hot over Ham balls.
