Sausage Marinara Sauce
- 1 lb Italian turkey sausage link, casings removed
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 1 medium sweet red pepper, julienned
- 1 medium green pepper, julienned
- 1 teaspoon olive oil or 1 teaspoon canola oil
- 1 (15 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 5 tablespoons tomato paste
- 3 teaspoons sugar
- 1 12 teaspoons dried basil
- 14 teaspoon garlic powder
- pasta, to serve over (optional)
- Crumble sausage into a skillet and add the onion, peppers and oil.
- Cook over medium heat until the sausage is no longer pink and the vegetables are tender; drain.
- Add the tomatoes, broth, tomato paste, sugar, basil and garlic powder; heat through.
- Serve over pasta if desired.
