Date Nut Bread

  1. Place dates, raisins and water in pan to boil slowly 15 minutes covered.
  2. Set aside for cooling or even overnight.
  3. Cream sugars and oleo; add eggs.
  4. Beat well, then add all ingredients and flour.
  5. Stir well.
  6. Add 1 cup chopped nuts, if desired.
  7. Make 4 small to medium loaves or 3 large loaves.
  8. Bake at 325u0b0 for 25 minutes, then at 300u0b0.
  9. Total Baking Time:
  10. 45 to 55 minutes. Test for doneness with a toothpick.
  11. Do not overbake.
