Philly Cheese Steak Strata

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease 2-quart baking dish; set aside.
  2. Melt 2 tablespoons butter in bowl in microwave.
  3. Place bread cubes into another bowl.
  4. Pour melted butter over bread cubes; toss to coat.
  5. Spread in even layer on baking sheet.
  6. Bake, turning cubes halfway through, 20 minutes or until cubes are crisp and beginning to brown.
  7. Melt 1 tablespoon butter in 10-inch skillet until sizzling; add green pepper and onion.
  8. Cook 5-7 minutes over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until crisply tender.
  9. Place bread cubes, beef, green pepper and onion mixture and cheese in bowl; mix until well combined.
  10. Transfer to prepared baking dish.
  11. Whisk together all remaining ingredients in another bowl.
  12. Pour over ingredients in baking dish.
  13. Cover with nonstick aluminum foil.
  14. Bake 40 minutes.
  15. Remove foil; bake 10-15 minutes more or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.
  16. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
