Goan Fish Gheezad
- 12 steaks of some lg. fish (such as king fish, pomfret)
- 2 onions, sliced
- 2 tomatoes, sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 5 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp. garam masala
- 1 tbsp. vinegar
- 1/4 tsp. tamarind concentrate in
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 tbsp. oil
- 1/4 tsp. sugar
- Salt, to taste
- Salt the fish and set aside.
- Heat oil in a pan.
- Put in the onion and saute it until transparent.
- Add tomatoes, garlic and green chilies and cook for 3 minutes.
- Add garam masala and vinegar and stir-fry for another minute.
- Place fish steaks in pan and add tamarind water, salt and sugar.
- Cook on a slow fire, shaking the pan every now and then, for 15 minutes.
- Serve hot with boiled vegetables.
