French Cherry Torte
- 1 cup flour
- 12 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup graham cracker crumbs
- 12 cup chopped pecans
- 34 cup margarine
- 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened and at room temperature
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 16 ounces whipped topping
- 1 (30 ounce) can cherry pie filling (or 21 oz if you can't find the 30)
- Mix the first step ingredients and press into a 9x13 pan.
- Bake for 15 minutes at 400 degrees.
- Leave in pan but stir and crumble the baked mixture immediately and let cool by stirring often.
- In a large bowl combine step 2 ingredients.
- When thoroughly mixed add crumbled mixture and the whipping topping and fold together.
- Spread into the 9x13 pan.
- Spoon/spread the can of cherry pie filling over the top of the mixture in the pan.
- Place in refrigerator until ready to serve.
- Can be garnished with more whipped topping if desired.
