Barbecue-Style Pork Steaks

  1. Cut pork steaks in half lengthwise.
  2. Trim excess fat.
  3. In a large skillet brown steaks on both sides in hot oil.
  4. Drain steaks on paper towels.
  5. In a 3 1/2- or 4-quart electric crockpot arrange the onion, green pepper, and tomatoes.
  6. Sprinkle tapioca over vegetables.
  7. Place pork steaks atop vegetables and tapioca.
  8. In a small bowl stir together barbecue sauce, wine, and cumin.
  9. Pour over meat and vegetables in the crockpot.
  10. Cover and cook on low-heat setting for 6 to 8 hours or until meat and vegetables are tender.
  11. To serve, transfer meat and vegetables to a serving platter.
