Cranberry and Dried-Cherry Sauce

  1. Bring first 5 ingredients to boil in heavy medium saucepan over medium-high heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
  2. Add cherries; cook 2 minutes.
  3. Add cranberries; cook until berries pop, stirring occasionally, about 9 minutes.
  4. Transfer to bowl.
  5. Cover; chill overnight.
  6. (Can be made 1 week ahead.
  7. Keep chilled.)
  8. Discard cinnamon.
  9. Serve cold or at room temperature.
  10. Available at specialty foods stores, natural foods stores, and supermarkets
