Southern Smothered Chicken
- 1 cut up chicken
- 1 salt, pepper, garlic powder
- 1 can cream of mushroom (reg)
- 1 can cream of celery (reg)
- 1/2 can milk
- 1 small onion (minced)
- 2 stalks celery (minced)
- 1 small green pepper, chopped (1/2 cup)
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 * can use chicken pieces, me and my hubby like legs and wings
- cut up whole chicken don't use back pieces.
- Can save in freezer for broth for later meals.
- broth recipe also on profile.
- wash chicken in cold water.
- place in bowl.
- sprinkle with seasoned salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- roll chicken by hand to well coated.
- Let sit in fridge for 1 hr.
- spray casserole dish with non stick spray and place chicken in it.
- bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes.
- cover with an aluminum foil tent.
- while.
- chicken is baking melt butter in skillet and saute onion, bell pepper, and celery.
- add both cans of soup and the milk.
- let it get hot and pour over the chicken.
- cook chicken until it is done.
- according to your oven.... it should take another 20-30 minutes ..
- * can be served with rice, mashed potatoes, or noodles.
