Shrimp and Okra Hush Puppies Recipe

  1. Combine the cornmeal mix and flour in large bowl.
  2. Stir to mix.
  3. Sprinkle the shrimp with the Creole seasoning.
  4. Add the seasoned shrimp, onion, bell pepper, celery, and okra to the cornmeal mixture.
  5. Stir in the egg and beer just until moistened.
  6. Let stand 5-7 minutes.
  7. Pour oil to a depth of 4 inches in a Dutch oven and heat to 350 degrees F, measured on a deep-fry thermometer.
  8. Drop the batter by level tablespoonfuls into the hot oil, and fry in batches, 2 to 2 1/2 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
  9. Drain on a wire rack over paper towels.
  10. Serve immediately.
